Genesis has not announced a US price for its new flagship SUV, so if you want a straight answer to how much does the Genesis GV90 cost, the honest one as of 16 September 2026 is that nobody outside Genesis knows yet. The car was revealed on 19 August 2026 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco with a full specification sheet and no dollar figure attached. Genesis USA lists three versions and an arrival window of early 2027. Every price you have seen so far is somebody’s estimate.
How much does the Genesis GV90 cost?
The Genesis press release of 19 August 2026 spends paragraphs on airbag counts, massage seat air cells and speaker totals. It contains no price. The GV90 page on Genesis USA tells the same story: three trim names, the line “Arriving Early 2027”, a form to join a mailing list, and every photo captioned “Non-U.S. model with optional features shown”. No configurator. No MSRP.
What is circulating instead is a spread of estimates that do not agree with one another:
- About $100,000 for the standard three-row GV90. That number has been repeated across North American outlets since before the reveal and traces back to Korean industry chatter, not to Genesis.
- Above $130,000 for the coach-door Neolun, from the same pre-reveal reporting.
- Close to $250,000 for the four-seat Neolun First Edition, according to New Atlas on 29 August 2026.
- In Korea, the Seoul Economic Daily reported on 25 August 2026 that unnamed industry sources expect a base car in the mid-100-million-won range and top versions above 200 million won, with the First Edition between 250 and 300 million won.
That last one deserves a second look. The paper reached 203.37 million to 226.46 million won by taking the price gap between a Genesis sedan and its matching SUV and applying it to the long-wheelbase G90, which sells for 184.73 million won. An educated guess with decimal places bolted on.
One anchor does help. Genesis already sells a flagship in the US, the 2026 G90 3.5T, which TrueCar lists at about $92,700 including its $1,495 destination charge. A bigger, heavier, technically denser electric SUV launching above that is a fair bet. How far above is guesswork.
The short version
Genesis has not published a US price for the GV90. It has confirmed a 123.5 kWh battery, 657 horsepower and about 310 miles of range on its own testing, with US deliveries starting in early 2027 as a 2028 model. Reported prices of $100,000 and up are estimates, not Genesis figures.
What Genesis has confirmed, and what it has not
The specification sheet is unusually complete for a car this far from a showroom. Genesis states a 123.5 kWh battery, the largest Hyundai Motor Group has built, on a new eMP platform reserved for the brand’s flagships. Combined output is 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft, split 322 hp at the front axle and 335 hp at the rear. A 350 kW DC charger takes it from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes.
The body is 208.1 inches long on a 127.8-inch wheelbase, with 22-inch wheels standard and 24-inch on the Neolun. Multi-chamber air springs, two electronic limited-slip differentials and rear-wheel steering with up to five degrees of lock, which is the only reason a car this long works in a city.
Confirmed absent: price, EPA range rating, 0 to 60 mph time, US curb weight and any per-trim equipment list. That is a lot of blank space for a car people are already comparing on spreadsheets.
Genesis GV90 range and battery size
Genesis GV90 range and battery size are where the small print matters most. The press release says the seven-seat GV90 “achieves an estimated range of approximately 310 miles (based on internal R&D tests)”. Read that parenthesis again. It is not an EPA figure and it is not WLTP either. It is Genesis testing Genesis.
Internal numbers usually flatter. When the EPA gets hold of a three-row SUV this size wearing 24-inch wheels, the published figure tends to land lower, and wheel size alone can cost 20 or 30 miles. I would plan on 270 to 300 miles for the US rating. That gap between a maker’s claim and a test-cycle result turns up constantly here, which is why the comparison between the BMW iX3 50 and the Tesla Model Y is worth reading on cycle differences first.
The 22-minute charge stop is the sturdier headline. An 800-volt architecture at 350 kW already works in Hyundai Motor Group cars on the road, and it means a coffee break rather than lunch at a Sunday service area.
Does the Genesis GV90 have coach doors?
Yes, on one version. The GV90 Neolun gets what Genesis calls the Neolun Arch Gate: rear-hinged back doors with a hidden B-pillar, so the pillar exists structurally but disappears from view when the doors shut. Genesis claims a world first for doors that open and close independently, which matters because Rolls-Royce style coach doors normally make you open the front door first.

The mechanism is a dual-motion hinge: the rear door slides slightly outward, then rotates. Genesis says the surrounding structure is reinforced to about 1.5 times the thickness of a conventional body. The plain GV90 keeps ordinary doors, and I suspect that is the version most US buyers end up with, because coach doors are wonderful in a hotel forecourt and tiresome in a supermarket car park.
What the cabin gets
The equipment list reads like a brief written by someone told to win an argument. Front seats that rotate a full 180 degrees when parked. A pop-up OLED centre screen of 23.6 inches that extends to 24.6 inches as it rises. A 25-inch head-up display. Twenty-five Bang & Olufsen speakers with Dolby Atmos. Massage seats with 15 air cells. Twelve airbags, one of them a roof airbag covering the glass roof to stop occupants being thrown out.

Software runs on Pleos Connect, Hyundai Motor Group’s new infotainment platform. Genesis has said nothing about deeper Apple integration, so if that matters, check our roundup of which cars actually run CarPlay Ultra before you commit.
When does the Genesis GV90 go on sale?
When does the Genesis GV90 go on sale depends on where you live. Korea gets it first, late in 2026, and Genesis ran a public viewing at its Suji showroom in Yongin from 11 to 27 September 2026. The US, UK, Europe and Australia follow in the first half of 2027. Genesis USA badges the car as a 2028 model while Korea treats it as a 2027, a paperwork quirk that will confuse search results for months.
Production is at Hyundai’s new Ulsan Plant 6, the group’s first purpose-built EV factory in Korea, so every US car is imported and exposed to whatever tariff applies when it lands. That is a real risk to the eventual sticker. If you are weighing a long wait against buying now, the same maths applies to the Rivian R2 and whether it is worth holding out for.
Genesis GV90 vs Cadillac Escalade IQ
The Escalade IQ is the obvious American rival and it is already on sale, which makes the Genesis GV90 vs Cadillac Escalade IQ question lopsided for now. Cadillac’s numbers are EPA-verified and its price is published. Genesis has neither yet.
| Genesis GV90 | Cadillac Escalade IQ (2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| US price | Not announced | From $127,405 |
| Battery | 123.5 kWh | 205 kWh |
| Range | About 310 miles, Genesis internal testing | 450 to 465 miles, EPA |
| Power | 657 hp, 590 lb-ft | Up to 750 hp, 785 lb-ft |
| Length | 208.1 in | 224.3 in |
| DC charging | 10 to 80 per cent in 22 min at 350 kW | About 116 miles added in 10 min |
| On sale in the US | Early 2027 | Now |
Escalade IQ figures come from Cars.com research data, checked 16 September 2026. The Cadillac carries 66 per cent more battery and goes considerably further. The Genesis is 16 inches shorter, which you notice every time you park, and its case rests on the doors and the cabin rather than on range.
FAQ
Will the Genesis GV90 qualify for a federal EV tax credit?
No. The $7,500 federal clean vehicle credit ended on 30 September 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, more than a year before the GV90 reaches US customers. No federal purchase incentive is waiting for it. Some state and utility programmes still run, but most cap eligibility well below what a flagship electric SUV will cost.
Is the Genesis GV90 built in the United States?
No. The GV90 is built at Hyundai’s new Ulsan Plant 6 in South Korea, the group’s first dedicated EV factory at home, and shipped to the US. That matters for pricing, because imported cars carry tariff exposure that US-assembled rivals such as the Cadillac Escalade IQ avoid. Genesis has not said how it will absorb or pass on that cost.
Can I order or reserve a Genesis GV90 now?
Not as of 16 September 2026. The Genesis USA GV90 page offers only a form to register interest and receive updates. There is no deposit, no configurator, no order bank and no published allocation system. Expect pricing and ordering to open closer to the early 2027 delivery window, most likely late in 2026 or in the first weeks of 2027.
How many people does the Genesis GV90 seat?
It depends on the version. Genesis has confirmed a seven-seat layout for the standard GV90 and a four-seat Executive Suite arrangement for the Neolun First Edition, with five and six-seat configurations also reported at the reveal. The 310-mile range figure Genesis quotes applies specifically to the seven-seater, so other layouts may differ.
About this article: figures were checked on 16 September 2026 against the Genesis global newsroom release of 19 August 2026, the GV90 page on genesis.com/us, Korean pricing reporting in the Seoul Economic Daily, and Cars.com data for the Cadillac Escalade IQ. Where Genesis has not published a number, this article says so instead of repeating an estimate as fact.
