In short: we want Kwyper to work for everyone, and we aim at the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. We are not claiming we meet it everywhere. This page says what we do, what we know is not good enough yet, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA, the standard most accessibility laws point to. We check new pages against it as we build them rather than auditing once and forgetting.
What we do
- Every meaningful image carries alternative text describing what it shows, and decorative images are marked so a screen reader skips them.
- Headings are used in order, so you can move through an article by heading instead of reading everything.
- The site can be used with a keyboard alone, and the element you are on is visibly focused.
- Text resizes and reflows without breaking the layout, and we check colour contrast on body text, links and buttons.
- Links say where they go, so you will not find a list of links all reading “click here”.
What we know is not fixed
- Content from other companies, such as photographs served from stock libraries, is outside our control, and we cannot guarantee how it behaves with assistive technology.
- If we add advertising in future, ad units are supplied by third parties and can be difficult to navigate by keyboard. We will keep them out of the reading flow as far as we can.
- Older articles may have weaker alternative text than recent ones. We fix these as we find them.
The European Accessibility Act
The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. It covers a defined list of products and services, such as e-commerce and paid media services, and it exempts microenterprises, meaning companies with fewer than 10 staff and a turnover under 2 million euros, from its service obligations. Kwyper sells nothing and charges nothing, so we do not read the Act as covering this site. We are working to WCAG 2.2 AA anyway, because the point is that people can read us.
Tell us about a problem
If something on Kwyper stopped you, email [email protected] or use the contact form. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what you use to browse, such as a screen reader or keyboard only. We aim to reply within 5 business days with either a fix or a date for one. If you need something on the site in another format, ask and we will send it.
